Last night Jace and I had a date. It was quite simple but it is so special to us. We pour ourselves a glass of wine and fill our plate with spaghetti, meatballs, and a piece of garlic cheese bread. Again, it is simple but when we fix this meal we know it is going to be a great night. I don't know about y'all but by the end of the week we are tired and we just need time to catch up which makes this meal perfect for a Friday night. Time spent together is a precious commodity right now because the end of the semester is nearing. Jace is gone 5 nights of the week and is either studying, preparing for class, or preparing letters for firms. To say that we were looking forward to our date last night, would have been an understatement.
We had a great dinner and great conversation. It was nice to catch up and spend time together. We also watched a large dose of "Say Yes to the Dress" which will only be countered by watching numerous football games tonight! For me when the weeks are busy, it is nice to spend time at home on the weekends with the one you love. It's the one time of the week that you relax and not worry about work or school.
In this season of thankfulness, I am thankful for simple and easy dates. Thankful that in our marriage we look forward to simple, no fuss date nights. Thankful for quality time spent together and not losing that best friend feeling in your spouse. We may be newlyweds but I hope we always are excited about spaghetti and meatball dinners!
